Kasaragod is one of the areas of the Indian territory of Kerala. Kasaragod Locale was coordinated as a different region on 24 May 1985. It is the northernmost area of Kerala and is named after Kasaragod Town which is the authoritative central command of the region. Lying in the northern tip of Kerala limited by the Western ghats in the east and Bedouin ocean in the west, 12 waterways streaming across its landscape, Kasaragod is a charming delight of Nature's manifestations. Kasargod turned out to be important for Kerala following the revamping of states and development of Kerala in November 1,1956. Kasaragod region was essential for South Kanara area of Madras state preceding the States redesign on first November 1956. On that day Kasaragod taluk was made piece of the re-coordinated Malabar area of Kerala state. After two months on first January 1957, the current locale covered by Kasaragod region turned into a piece of the recently shaped Cannanore (later renamed as Kanoor) region. Alongside it the recent Kasaragod taluk was bifurcated into Kasaragod and Hosdurg taluks. In 1984 Kasaragod turned into another locale with Kasaragod town as its base camp. The development of Kasargod Region was a long felt desire of individuals.
